Full review for Beechwood can be found here.
Summary: This was your reviewers third Chef Roy burger in a 15 day period. The burgers at his other joints, A-Frame and Cheego, were very good but the burger at Beechwood was amazing. I didn’t have high expectations for the Beechwood burger fueled in part because of negative yelp reviews. However, I was hopeful that in his short time as the new executive chef Roy was able to fix some of the restaurant’s past problems. Since David S. and I arrived before other members of the crew we got a beer and sat outside in front of the huge firepit. The atmosphere was hip without being pretentious. The restaurant itself had a nice vibe which I enjoyed. When the other members showed up we were seated inside. We all split an order of Togarashi Garlic Fries and Tempura onion rings which were both really good. But it was the burger that blew me away.
The menu description: ( 8oz patty with cheddar cheese, red onion, arugula, tomato jam, herb mayo, on a brioche bun) doesn’t do the burger justice. The sum of these seemingly standard ingredients tasted awesome. The bun was similar to a delicious buttery croissant. The beef was cooked perfectly and was super rich and flavorful. Everything worked together. The only negative was that they put to much red onion on the burger which overpowered everything else until I removed half of them but it was only a minor inconvenience. This burger is near the top of my personal list. It stomps on burgers from more well known places like The Street and Golden State. It came out of nowhere to challenge Rustic Canyon and The Bowery for burger supremacy.
